  • inian Catamount Notebook Men's Golf The men's golf team is preparing for their final event of the fall season next Monday and Tuesday at the Davidson College Invitational in Charlotte. Last week, the Cats finished fifth out of 15 teams in the Radford Intercollegiate in Draper, Va. It wastU highest finish for i men's golf team th season. .-SLA Mike Bowers paced the Catamount five shooting a par 72, and 76 in the two rounds to earn the 16th spot out of 75 golfers. Jason Sugg tied Bowers with a 75-73-148. Lee Cline shot 77-78-155 for 40th place and Andy Humble and Marc Leichtnam tied for 60th with two round totals of 159. Elon College won the event by 22 strokes over USC Aiken. Women's Golf The WCU women's golf team wrapped up their fall season in the James Madison University Invitational in Staunton, VA, this past weekend. For the second tournament in a row the Lady Cats struggled in the first round but finished with a strong second round to place 12th in the event. Sarah Parris finished tied for 20th with a two-day total of 160, including a 78 on Sunday, her first sub-80 round since the Lady Catamount Invitational earlier this month. Carrie Shaffer, in his first event this fall, was the number two Cat with a two tvmnd total of 172, d enough for th overall. Jes- :a Blake shot a 74, followed by Mary Faulk (175), and Brook Stillman (188). Yale University won the event by two strokes over UNC Wilmington. Cross Country The men's and women's cross country team will travel to Davidson this weekend to compete in the Southern Conference Championships at the Davidson College Cross Country Course. Head coach Danny Williamson is confident about his teams' chances after a strong showing in the State Meet at ECU last week.
