  • Photo by A. (i. Roth From Rich Mountain we look across picturesque Cades Cove and get a good view of Gregory Bald. ridge by which we ascended the mountain. And we will find this route not so slick from pine needles. In fact, we will wade through several inches of leaves most of the way. Following the stream, we Pass a deserted cabin and soon reach the highway about half a mile south of the gap where we left our cars. This is an ideal mid-summer hike. Let's go! . Leave Saunders System at 8 A. M. The round tnp distance is about 6 miles. The trail is steep nut smooth. The elevation is about 3,500 feet. Cost °t transportation will be about $1.75 each.
