The tour begins at Knoxville and follows No. 33 to Maryville, an historic old town and the home of Maryville College, founded in 1819. At Alcoa, adjoining Maryville, are the huge plants of the Aluminum Company of America and the United States Aluminum Company. Turning into Highway No. 72, six miles beyond Maryville, the route leads by Tallassee Springs, Chilhowee, and near Calderwood Dam and Lake, built by the Aluminum Company of America to supply power for the Alcoa plants. 24
