  • an excellent stand of virgin timber composed of chestnut, poplar, and oak. It is an inspiration to be among such fine trees, and a picture of this stand is worth the trip. At Low Gap, on Curryhee Mountain (from the Indian "Garahi," meaning a salad), the trail meets the road to Line Springs. Meig's Mountain is in plain view at this point. The way then leads down to Line Springs and along the state highway to the forks of the Little River, back to the cars. Leave Saunders System at 7:00 A. M. Bring food for one meal, and canteen. The trip covers a distance of about fourteen miles. Leaders: F. J. SHULLEY (2-2103) and ELVIE MANLEY (2-6065). December 13 BIRD PRESERVE—INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS Not by any means the least enjoyable of the Club's activities are the indoor meetings, and the annual installation of officers at the Bird Preserve in Island Home Park is always one of the best attended meetings of the year. After a short formal program, consisting of reports of outgoing officers and installation of officers for 1932, there will be a program of games and stunts. There is a club building at the Bird Preserve, known as Magnolia Woodward Lodge, which is equipped with electric lights and an open fireplace. Bring your own sandwiches and a friend. Leave Saunders System at 3:30 P. M. Those having cars please meet at Saunders System and take those who have no means of transportation. Leaders: GURLEY F. JETT (3-5027) and META SCHWOEGL (2-2687). 53
