  • A. HOLMES, State Geologist. NORTH CAROLINA GEOLOGICAL SURVEY. g^^^^T^T Chapel Hill, N.C. Feb 3rd, 1901 Dear Dr. Ambler, I am just in receipt of your letter about the banquet in Washington and I am just leaving for Washington – where I will spend tomorrow and possibly Tuesday. The Senate Committee considers the agricultural bill tomorrow and I am of the opinion that our bill had best be attached to that bill if possible. Two gentlemen in Durham have sent me $50.00 each. Mr. M. H. cone of Greensboro has promised to send $50.00. If I should think best to use a part or all of this toward a banquet or quiet dinner – of course the Asheville contributors will not complain. I will write you about this later. I hope to get $100.00 from charlotte. We will need all we can get and more for travelling expenses if we decide to have others go to Washington. Major Rollins [] to come back soon. Cordially, J. A.
