  • 'psni^yx western Greek Week, Continued from page 5 Friday night. Sigma Chi won Greek God and Zeta Tau Alpha won Greek Goddess. All together the Greek organizations raised over $2000 for the Harris Regional Children's Ward. Thursday, April 24th, brought New Kids on the Block, Madonna, Prince and others as fraternities and sororities participated in the variety show. The variety show gives fraternities and sororities a chance to show off their fun side. Each organization was given five to seven minutes to show off a skit or dance. The night consisted of Delta Zeta's tribute to Madonna, Alpha Xi Delta's PopUp-Videos collection, Sigma Chi's impersonation of Milli Vanilli and New Kids on the Block, and Lambda Chi Alpha's one man singing show. The big winners of the night were Lambda Chi Alpha and Alpha Xi Delta and Delta Zeta tying for first place. All of the fraternities and sororities put a lot of hard work into their skits and costumes, which were enjoyed by all. The last big event of the week, determining the winners of Greek Week, was held on Saturday, April 25th. The day started off with the Tuckaseigee River Cleanup. Each Greek organization joined together with the community to cleanup the river. Directly after the river cleanup, Greeks headed over to the Theta Xi house for a day of Greek games. Greek games was a time for fraternities and sororities to compete against each other in field day events. The games included events such as: empty keg toss, egg toss, dizzy bat relay race, human pyramid, donut eating contest, tug-o-war, and role down the hill race. The games lasted all day and everyone had a great time. After a fun-filled day of events, the winners of Greek games were Alpha Xi Delta and Sigma Chi. The week ended with the announcement of the winning fraternity and sorority of the week. The winners were chosen by a point system. Points were awarded to fraternities and sororities for each event won, the amount of money raised, and the number of members who participated in the river cleanup. Alpha Xi Delta, the reigning champion of Greek Week, and Sigma Chi came in first place. While there where only two winners, everyone ended the week with lots of memories and had a wonderful time. Delta Zeta sister Erin Cheatham stated: "All the fraternities and sororities came together for a week of fun, and we had a great time." features April 29,1998 You're Not In 1st Place Yet?
