  • Editorial Page of The Western Carolinian Hello, Alumni Homecoming week end the alumni of Western Carolina College return to their campus. Many of them will notice many changes, that is, the ob- 'langes, such as new buildings e students. However, the more important changes may not be as obvious. There is a new spirit al Western Carolina College. We hope the alumni feel this new spirit. It shows not only in the undergraduate support of their teams, but also in their attitude in the classroom. We hope Ihey carry away with an increased pride in their alma We hope the alumni will support college. The college deserves their . port. In turn, a growing and vigorous Western Carolina College will greet the children of the alumni when they enroll on our campus and give them its best. And so, a hearty welcome, from the staff of The W. km and the entire student body. While you renew your friendships with uld comrades, also gel acquainted Get On The Band Wagon The question is often asked: "Why doesn't Western Carolina have a bigger marching band?" and it's a very question when you consider this school of 1,400 plus has only a band of about 30. Yet the answer is very simple. The marching band is not ie fact that YOU, the students, have faded to turn out for the first rehearsal or any other thereafter. The college has the uniforms and facilities for a much larger band and the director certainly needs more to work with. Everyone who plays an instrument is eligible for the college band. The band is a great factor in deli ing the amount of "school spirit" any college has, and promoting this spirit is the responsibility of every student campus.
