  • \ GIVE BLOOD PLAY RUGBY The rugby team had an up and down spring season. Having a harder schedule than any sport on campus, playing almost all ACC teams, the WCU Rugby Football club slowly declined in participants. "It's hard to find dedicated ruggers" the president Jason Baldwin says. "Students do not realize the opportunity they're passing up by not playing rugby." Unlike other schools that schools that the rugby team plays, we recieve no funding or help whatsoever from WCU. Mark Sumpter donated $1000.00 of his own money to start the club in 1990. Since then, dedicated players have paid the rest through dues... just to play the game. Rugby is the second-most played sport in the world. A team of 15 ruggers can be outfitted for the same price as two football players.k "If people would only try this game, they would be hooked for life," V.P. Tony Curtis said. "It is the unltimate college experience, guaranteed!" Today, rugby is the #1 club sport on college campuses in the U.S. If interested next semester, practices take place behind Reid Gym. All are welcome!
