The new building will pro- vice approximately 68,000 square feet of floor space en four floors. It will include a 285-seat lecture hall, and 19 general classrooms. There are also conference rooms, and special rooms for accounting, secretarial science, and business education classes. Individual stalls are being constructed for motion and time study experiments. The special classrooms will be equipped with such features as permanently lined chalk beards to represent various accounting forms. Laboratories for shorthand, statistics, and office machines classes are included. The building is constructed so that a person can reach any room by walking only half toe length of any corridor. This is accomplished through arrangement of rooms into outer and inner cores. The building also will house the university's computer operations, or Data Processing Center. The Center serves not only toe university but the entire region. When the Data Processing Center is moved to the new facility the present computer will be replaced with a larger, more efficient machine. Another agency that will move to the new building will be the Economic Development Center, established in June, 1969. The Center serves a 28-county region of North Carolina and the Cherokee Indian Reservation through a program of technical assistance and economic research. It is one of 17 such centers established by the Eco nomic Development Administration. A special feature of toe building will be the Business and Industry Placement Service. This service provides facilities in which business and industrial employers may interview graduating seniors. Students in any major may take advantage of the placement service. The School of Education and Psychology operates a separate placement service for students majoring in education. At present there are approximately 1,000 business majors at WCU. The School has 32 faculty members. r The school offers degrees in economics and business administration. In the business administration program, students may concentrate in economics, accounting, data processing, finance, management, marketing, and office administration.
