Thousands of Army ROTC graduates, from hundreds of college campuses, have become leaders in our country's volunteer Army. Some enrolled in ROTC for financial aid to complete college (nearly $2500 during their junior and senior years). Others for the management training and experience offered by Army ROTC courses Still others for the positions of immediate leadership responsibility following graduation, as officers in the active Army, Reserves, and Army National Guard. But most enrolled also to serve their country. Men and women from the north, the east, the south, the west... from small rural communities and large urban areas. They've shown that you don't have to be from Tennessee to be a volunteer, or from Texas to stand tall for your country. Assertive people make their own choices and are usually confident and feel good about themselves. Eight sessions. Sudden immersion in a new environment often creates feelings of anxiety and loneliness. This group will focus on ways of dealing with these feelings, getting along with others and making new friends. Gestalt is an existential, non-analytic form of group work. Its goals are to integrate the various parts of the personality, to replace environmental support with self-support, and to increase awareness. An introductory experience focusing on increasing one's self-awareness, understanding one's own and other's feelings, and improving interpersonal relationships in a supportive group environment. Six to eight sessions By backpacking through the wilderness for a weekend, you will have the opportunity to discover that you are probably capable of more than you usually expect of yourself, your reactions to others in the group and sharing feelings about the experience. Prior camping experience is not necessary. Cost: $8-10 per student for food, equipment, and transportation. Designed to help participants improve selected aspects of their study skills. Session will include: Introduction to Academics Note Taking How to Study Time Management Test Taking Reading the textbook Participants may attend any or all session at their own discretion.
