This week Amy shares her memories of the song “Wildwood Flower”; “Wildwood Flower” by Ron Smith from Sylva accompanies her story, followed by another rendition by the Queen Family from John’s Creek. On Creative Corner, Doreyl’s guest is Mary Hartbarger, manager of the Jarrett House in Dillsboro. They talk about the history and heritage of this wonderful inn. (“The Jarrett House Blues” by Mark Winchester follows the interview.) Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is 90-year old Lloyd Cowan, who talks about his life in Jackson County; “Holding Up the Ladder” by the Inspirations concludes the interview. On Black Roots of Appalachia, Victoria’s guest is 90-year old Louise Rogers Allen from Cullowhee, who also talks about growing up in Jackson County; Golden Gate Quartet’s rendition of “Rock My Soul” follows the interview. Judy’s guest on Down Another Road is T.J. Holland, who shares the roots of the Qualla Boundary. (“Cherokee” by Native American Nature concludes the segment.) The closing song is “Lonesome John” by Dirk Powell.
