Stories of mountain folk broadcast: 2012-10-20
-
This week Amy shares her memories of walking down the mountain to catch the school bus with “Times I Try to Remember.” Accompanying the story is “Try to Remember” by Ron Smith from Sylva. On Creative Corner, Doreyl’s guests are Teresa Dowd and Vallyn Johnson who talk about the programs at Full Spectrum Farms in Cullowhee for those with autism spectrum disorders. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Libby Kephart Hargrave who discusses the story of her great grandparents, Horace and Laura Kephart. “God on the Mountain” by the Children of Zion follows the interview. On Black Roots of Appalachia, Victoria continues her conversation with 90-year old Louise Rogers Allen, who recounts memories of her family and growing up in Jackson County. “Twilight is Stealing” by Spirit-Filled Trio follows the segment. Judy’s guest on Down Another Road is once again T.J. Holland, who continues his story of the roots of the Qualla Boundary. “The Flute Song” by Eddie Bushyhead concludes the interview. The closing song is “Raymond’s Repeating Banjo” by the Frosty Mountain Boys.
