From'the angle of fire trails for fire protection there is no question that the costs are excessive and I have suggested that distinction be drawn between purely scenic trails and trails for fire "protection only so that a distinct set of specifications may be drawn for the latter. In this letter Schulze, Assistant Forrester, provides Coffman, Chief Forester with the National Park Service, data on the Tennessee camps in the park and trails being constructed including fire trails and scenic trails. The data is presented by Schulz separately in an enclosed report entitled “ Report to the Chief Forester on Great Smoky Mountain National Park.”
