  • PHOTOGRAPHIC CONTEST For four of the best photographs, taken by amateur photographers within the Club membership, from November 1, 1932 to November 1, 1933, awards of distinction will be made by the Directors of the Club. As an added incentive to hiking, as a stimulus to the aesthetic appreciation of Nature and to foster a habit of more critical observation, the Directors feel that this new project is a worthwhile addition to our program. Pictures submitted must have been taken by Club members who are not, in any sense, professional photographers. They must have been taken in East Tennessee or Western North Carolina. The subject matter must relate to those subjects of primary interest to the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club. Not more than two awards will be made for any single type of subject matter. Not more than two awards will be made for pictures submitted by any one person. A committee of three judges will be appointed in October by the President to select the best photographs. The winning pictures will be published in the 1934 Handbook and due credit given the photographers. All matters of interpretations of rules and amendments to the rules will be made by the Board of Directors. 66
