  • Febuary 21, 2007 Western Carolinian Page 14 The Skyward Stoop By: Estrella Grace staff writer Astrology is the study of the movements of celestial beings (planets, moon and sun) throughout the sky and how they may affect us on earth. The history of this matter includes many cultures and goes as far back as third millennium BC in ancient Babylonia. Humans throughout history have frequently consulted the night sky, including the Mayas, Aztecs, and the Arabs for example. Astrology is incredibly more intricate than the twelve short paragraphs you may be used to seeing in the paper called horoscopes. Astrology essentially represents a life cycle through the twelve signs, and the celestial beings around the earth that reflect their en- ergy in an organized cosmic fashion. These days, anything that cannot be proven in hard concrete evidence is considered pseudo, or not , genuine. It is all up to you and what you choose to believe in. I am going to be providing you with a two-week forecast of what is going on in the sky and how it might affect you. The forecast is general, or not directed towards any particular sign. It is simply the move- ments in the sky and the astrological information related to it. I have supplied a chart here with the names of the planets and their general influences to help you visualize what some of things I mention here mean. Monday, February 18 Dont forget to continue to have extra patience for co-workers and friends right now. Mercury the planet of communication and contracts is trek-. king through its last moments of retro- grade, and at times you may feel like you arent being heard. (Retrograde re- fers to when a planet back tracks. All the planets go retrograde at least once a year.) Electronics might not work as well, expect delays when traveling- even short trips, and avoid signing con- tracts. Mercury will go direct around 10:00 pm. Just yesterday, Venue, the planet of love and luxury moved out of earthy sign of Capricorn and into the airy and erratic sign of Aquarius. This week will prove to be crucial. Group activities are highlighted. At about 2:00 pm, the moon enters dramatic Leo until Wednesday evening. Warm generous moods are de- fiantly achievable...just be mindful of your wallet in the midst of these confi- dent feelings. ; Tuesday, February 19 Mercury goes direct! Over the next few days, electronics stop acting up as much and wrinkles get smoothed away. You may find a clearer head, as well as a refreshed understanding about projects you are working on. Remem- ber to still watch for details and take your time. The Sun leaves the friendly humanitarian sign of Aquarius and en- ters into the spiraling emotions of wa- tery Pisces. Everyone can benefit from the compassionate nature of this sign. Right now it is important to be gentle and considerate with others feelings as they learn lessons, and hopefully _ the same tolerance will be bestowed to you. Develop some of your ideas today; your boss or professor will be more re- ceptive to hearing them. Wednesday, February 20 There is a Lunar. Eclipse in Virgo today that sets the stage for pow- erful emotional undoing. Practicality and logical processes are momentarily out of balance. If you have any kind of emotional situations that are still all tied up and tangled, you may want to con- sider straightening them out. Chances are it is keeping you from advancing forward and possibly growing some as a person. During this eclipse people tend to be more open, sensitive, and ul- timatley vulnerable. This is a good time for healing. And painting. Thursday, February 21 Today will be complex...and may be a little rough. Pay attention to details as well as health matters. Your daily routine may begin to aggravate or upset you with its harsher elements that are making themselves apparent right now. Work may override sends and - romance FORAY: Friday, February 22 Whew! What a week it has been. The moon is plenty full and tonight will prove to be very dynamic. Strut your stuff ladies. Saturday & Sunday, February 23 & 24 Spend Saturday with a close friend, or significant other. Enjoy the beautiful day and dont drink so much! It will not help. Create artwork. Saturn opposes the sun on Sunday. You may not feel like doing everything on your checklist, which is perfectly fine.
