Unforgiven was a great show, don't get me wrong, but it was clearly not one of WWF's best efforts. The highlight of the evening was the X-Pac/Chris Jericho match-up. Jericho has definitely been working on his high-flying acrobatics lately, and both he and X- Pac put on a terrific match. In case some of you didn't already know, HHH became the World Champ again Sunday night. The Six-Pack match was decent, but it lacked something. It just seemed that most of the participants were not used to their full extent. The Rock was pretty useless, except for a few good hits every now and then. It was a nice touch to have Mankind attack The Rock with Socko. The British Bulldog was pretty much there just to get his head mashed in with a chair and power slam everyone (though I got to admit, it was pretty cool to see Bulldog power slam Big Show). The Lame-@$$ match award must go to the "Kennel From Hell" match. WWF took a lesson from WCW about booking a match to be a great spectacle of sports entertainment, when in fact the match will suck more than anything has sucked before. I was honestly hoping for some trained dogs to seemingly attack Al Snow or Big Boss Man, but the dogs never got close to either combatant. In fact, the dogs were chained and being held back at all times by their trainers. Bottom line—lame match. Monday night was a decent follow up to the PPV. Mankind apologized to The Rock for his actions Sunday by throwing a party for The Great One, complete with balloons, confetti, some folks from The Rock's past (Home Economics teacher, football coach, old girlfriend), and even a clown. As to be expected, The Rock was not impressed. Austin is scheduled to take on the World Champ (whoever it ends up being in three weeks) at No Mercy. I would like to see Austin go up against The Rock again, but we'll end up seeing another match with HHH. WCW did well not to cast Sid into screwing up anymore matches. The only match Sid interfered in was a Goldberg match. So with that going for it, Nitro was a pretty good show. The Cat put up a good fight with Chris Benoit, Psychosis lost his mask in a match with Kidman, and Buff Bagwell had one of the best looking matches of his career against Vampiro. Looks as if WCW is trying to compete. With Bischoff gone, maybe WCW can pull a couple of more point in the ratings. But with shows like Thunder and Saturday Night, WCW is bound to lose out to the much better Smack Down and Sunday Night Heat. Servo Says: The entire "This is your life, Rock" skit by Mankind. Having the Rock say all of his catch phrases in one sitting is always good for a laugh. Instead of getting frustrated, the tortoise keeps on keeping on, doing his own thing, until the end of the race and the tortoise wins. This fable could be applied to the 1999 season of the Western Carolina women's golf team. They started out slow, breaking records week after week, trying to reach that finishing goal. Not as many records were broken as the Lady Cats competed in the Evansville Lady Ace's Invitational, but head coach Steve Lott's squad got a higher finishing order. The Lady Cats placed fourth in the Evansville, Ind., tournament, their best finishing placement on the year. The tournament was won by the University of North Texas with a team score of 621, 45 strokes above par. Southwest Missouri State and Xavier University placed in front of the Lady Cats, 58 and 69 strokes above par, respectively. North Texas's Nina Reis won the individual title with a 6-above par, 150. She shot a pair of 75's to take the title by two strokes. Sarah Parris led the Lady Cat charge with a tenth place showing. Her 18-above par, 162 tied with a golfer from Butler University. Parris shot a team-low 82 on the first day, followed by another team-low 80 yesterday. Suzanne Shipley shot a 26-above par to record an 18th place finish. Rounding out WCU's scoring was freshman Katie Schmidt in a five-way tie for 28th at 30- above par and Jessica Blake in 33rd, with a 175, 31-above par. The Lady Cats will continue to strive towards their goal on October 11 through the 12 when they travel northward again to take part in the Eastern Illinois/Iron Horse Intercollegiate in Tuscola, Illinois. 14-9 13-10 15-8 S Q V d r * X V H 1 o J. n V V T 1 3 V A 0 3 N V a 1 n oMjs V 1 D 3 a V N 3 a 0 d V 3|3 i V s|v 0 1 a i V is N n o|s 3 1 lajm 8 y 3 1 V '•■G 3 a j|3 s 3 3 a N V "Is 3 1 ufl3 A I 1 1 * V H oh 3 M O 18 s 3 a d 3 N 1 •■v N V 3|3 N 1 V H w 1 G«3 N O o|s S 3 S s V 1? a O sBs 0 V ll a 3 a N V SB3 1 1 »|s a 3 3 M V H a V 3 A O a 3 X 0 i d 3 1 M 1 a 3 N 1 1 v| 1 V a O 8 N V a d O H s 3 w V N 3Q NVH31diyi
