Columnist Jane Bryant Quinn OPI Nationally syndicated columnist Jane Bryant Quinn, the nation's leading commentator on personal finance, will visit the Western Carolina University campus Monday, October 4, for an afternoon conversation with WCU students followed by a public pre sentation that evening. The afternoon session, "A Conversation with Jane Bryant Quinn," is for students only, in a small "town meeting" atmosphere. The evening program, "Fast Economy, Fast Money: How to Invest and Control Your Risks in Markets That Are Off the Charts," is open to all members of the campus community and the public. Quinn's columns appear in Newsweek and Good Housekeeping magazines and more than 250 newspapers, including the New York Daily News. Her book, "Making the Most of Your Money," a comprehensive guide to planning personal finances, was a best-seller, and her "A Hole in the Market" tracks the effects Generation X is having on the economy. A familiar face on network television, Quinn worked for 10 years for CBS news, first on the "CBS Morning News," then on the "Evening News with Dan Rather." She hosted her own program on personal finance, a Public Broadcasting Service series called 'Take Charge!," and she appeared twice weekly on ABC's "The Home Show." She continues to be a frequent guest on "Good Morning America" and "Nightline." An Emmy Award- winning broadcaster, Quinn has won numerous awards for journalism and was named by the "World Almanac" as one of the 25 most influential women in the United States. Both of Quinn's presentations are free of charge. The informal afternoon session will be for WCU students only, with limited seating, and will be held in the Grandroom of A.K.
