  • 4 Western Carolinian September 22, 1994 News Yes, Some Things Are Free: CAP Center Provides Job Directories and Career Guides : WNC Leadership Conference Held Andy Capone Staff Reporter How many times have we all heard, "Nothing is ever free in life"? Not only is it a common phrase, but a common occurrence. Fortunately, the CAP Center is about to discredit the popular adage. The CAP Center is providing free Job Directories and Career Guides for seniors and graduate students. The four magazines that are available include three job directories that focus on three different occupational areas (Business, Science & Engineering, and Health Care). The Job Directories include address listings and a description of their company. A Career Guide is also included. The Career Guide includes helpful hints such as: how to write a resume, interviewing techniques, and excellent insight into what employers are looking for in graduating students. In fact, this particular guide is rated as being one of the best college guides on the market. So, where's the catch? What do I have to do to get the magazines, you ask? After all, "Nothing is ever free in life." Well, if you consider walking over to the CAP Center, room 80 McKee, a cost, then you're out of luck. The Cap Center requires that you show up with a validated student ID, and that you be either a senior or graduate student. Tell the CAP Center what your field of interest is, and you may receive two of the four magazines. Is it worth it? I wouldn't recommend buying the magazines in the store. All four would cost you $65.61. Consider doing it the free way — walk.
