Doug Davis, executive secretary of the LCE and the man who books the events, said that the funding for the LCE is derived from three sources: student fees, subscription tickets, and box office receipts. Input for scheduled events comes from a committee of nine faculty members and six students. The student component of the committee breaks down into an equal distribution between individuals from the Art, Music, and Theater departments. There are two from each department and this insures a more balanced mixture of events. The following is a calendar of events for the 1980-81 season: Nigerian Textiles Belk, Art Gallery September 8-30 Reception Sept. 8, 7 p.m. The MeLain Family Band M/E Recital Hall September 18 North Carolina Glass Belk, Art Gallery October 12-November 5 Reception Oct. 12, 2 p.m. North Carolina Dance Theatre Hoey Auditorium October 2 North Carolina School Of The Arts Orchestra Hoey Auditorium October 28 Alabama Shakespeare Festival Hoey Auditorium (Two Gentlemen From Verona) November 3 Early Music Consort M/E Recital Hall November 20 Carl Gerbrant [Tenor] M/E Recital Hall January 20 Bella Abzug M/E Recital Hall January 22 Paul Jenkins Paintings Belk, Art Gallery February 9-March 4 Reception Feb. 9, 7 p.m. University of Georgia String Quartet M/E Recital Hall February 19 Toshlko Takaezu [Paintings, Fibers, Clay] Belk, Art Gallery March 9-April 1 Reception Mar. 9, 7 p.m. Alliance Theatre Company (For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf) Hoey Auditorium March 2- Marvin Blickenstaff [Pianist] M/E Recital Hall March 10 Tucson Boys Chorus Hoey Audiorium March 25 Adrienne Rich [Poet] M/E Recital Hall April All evening performances begin at 8:00 p.m. LCE subscriber reservations must be picked up before 7:45.
