Ambler, Asheville, H. G. Dear Sir: Your letter of the 18th of January was duly received and we have since been seeking light on the subject of the proposed Appalachian National Park. The writer of this letter finds by reference to his letter-book that eight years ago he called the attention of the senators: from North and South Carolina to a similar suggestion, which had not then advanced to the dignity of an organized movement. I need hardly say to you that The Century Magazine has taken much interest in public reservations of this sort. We are, unfortunately, in the position of having a great many demands upon our space between now and the first of next year, and we do not see how m could make room for a "body article" on this subject. He should be glad, however, if you would feel like writing us an Open Letter on the topic in review of the movement, and setting forth in fresh language what is desired and the reasons for the advocacy of the Park-— say, of eight hundred words.
