SPECIAL GIFTS FROM GOD Thanks God for instilling in me the greatest qualities two women in my life possess. One was my Grandmother, who always stood behind me even still in memories Yes, My grandmother was a special woman who touched me in a special way Everywhere she went, she made a friend, a friend for life For me God, there was no other special lady like her I wish I could of given her more, but you know, I think she knew how much I wanted to give her Well she is gone now I know I should not mourn and I try not to But , Oh my mother was the other great woman My mother taught me what love is and what love is not And for me that was good Mom had a special way of expressing her love which she kept deep rooted within herself You know, she had the makings of a rather funny but serious lady. Many, I have seen taken this special quality for granted. Hey it does not matter though, because my mother went on never turning back, never regretting. tribute to mamas, ladies and babies.

This 1980, 32-page book of poems titled Neo-Blackness was published by the Organization of Ebony Students. Named in 1973, the Organization of Ebony Students was originally the Black Students United for Liberation which was founded in 1968 to promote unity among African American students. The organization is now called the Black Student Union and continues to promote the interests of WCU’s African American student body through cultural and educational activities and is open to all cultures.
