  • TRACT NO. 308 - J. R. BOYD AND V. A. CAMPBELL THE TITLE Tract 308 is a small part of an original 447-acre tract known as the "Purchase", and lying on the divide between Johnathans Creek and Cataloochee Creek, Tract 308 lying on the Cataloochee side of the divide. These lands are covered by State Grant 252, issued to John Gray Blouht November 29, 1796. Title to these lands held under above mentioned grant became vested in James R. Love and Robert Love by reason of the execution of a deed bearing date December 20, 1834, and became a part of what is generally known as the Love Speculation Lands. The records disclose a regularrecorded chain &f title to this tract under the above mentioned grant to the present owners, J. R. Boyd and V. A. Campbell. The said Boyd and Campbell and those under whom they claim have been in the continuous adverse possession of this tract for a sufficient period of time to have matured title under the Statutes of North Carolina. Inquiry in the neighborhood discloses that no other person has set up claim of any nature to this tract. There are no valid outstanding liens or encumbrances. All deeds are general warranty deeds and purport to convey the title in fee simple. All taxes have been paid. On account of the insolvent condition of a prior owner of these lands, and a certain deed of trust that, under existing conditions, could not be paid and satisfied all persons necessary were made parties in a condemnation suit, brought in the Superior Court of Buncombe County, before the Clerk, entitled, "State of North Carolina vs. Suncrest Lumber Company, et al".
