  • hotel 7:45 a. m. Trail good. Elevation 4911 feet. To visitors: Boots, or comfortable outing shoes, with heavy woolen socks, are absolutely required—if you plan to go to the top of Brushy. Also take flashlight, plenty of clothes, a canteen and a substantial lunch. Cost of banquet and hotel accommodations will be announced about December 12. Leaders: KENNETH SANDERS (3-5736) ALMA SHIPE (6-1517) ONE CENT PER MILE YOUR SHARE OF CAR COST If you go to the starting point of the hike in a car rented from the Dixie System you naturally expect to pay your pro rata share of the rental cost. If, on the other hand, you ride in the car of some other member, you should also pay your share of the cost. To help buy a tank of gasoline and perhaps a quart of oil is not enough. Those items are only a small Part of the cost of operating a car. The Board of Directors of the Club has formulated a policy which calls for each passenger to pay to the owner of the car one cent Per mile for the total distance travelled. This will effect a saving by the passengers, and they will not be "sponging" on the owner of the car in which they ride. Don't wait for the owner to ask for the "cent-a-mile". In fact, don't let him have to ask for it—and don't let him refuse to accept it. It is nothing but fair, so pay it promptly. Car operators usually like to be generous, but it isn't fair to themselves, their passengers or other car operators to break this rule of the Club. 65
