Dear sir:- I regret very much that I will not be able to bo present at the Appalachian Park meeting at Asheville on the 10th. I regard it to be of the utmost importance, not only for North Carolina but the whole of the eastern part of the United States, that this movement to preserve the forests in *h^ large noun- tain area shall be made successful. I feel sure that Congress UrUJL T^e^l-d uo$ hesitate to make the necessary appropriation when the subject is fully and intelligently La.% before it. I hope that the convention will be a large one and that we may keep the movement constantly going forward. Very Rmly yours,
