  • all is the majestic form of Mt. LeConte—and this is one of the many places throughout the Smokies where good views of Le Conte may be had. Swinging to the right, we see Mt. Collins, Clingman's Dome, Siler's Bald, Thunderhead, Gregory Bald, Rich Mountain, the Chilhowee Range, Mt. Guyot and many others. Any who are extra ambitious, and who can arrange to have their car sent up to Wonderland Park, may enjoy exploring a new route down the southwest end of the mountain to the headwaters of Laurel Creek and on down by Laurel Falls. But you had better start down early if you try this— and take your candle lantern or flash light. Others can vary their return route by going straight down to the west instead of to the northwest by which route you ascended. If any can not leave Saturday afternoon, they can leave Knoxville early (not later than 7:30) Sunday morning and meet the others before the hike starts. But, go Saturday, if possible. There will be lots of fun and good fellowship at the hotel. Leave Saunders System at 4 P. M. Saturday. Round trip hiking distance 10 miles. Trail steep but not very rough. Elevation at top 5000 ft. Approximate cost: Transportation $2.00; lodging, supper and breakfast $2.00; lunch to take on hike (if desired) 50 cents, otherwise take lunch with you. October 4-5 LOOK ROCK—ELECTION After watching Tennessee trim Center College, (and you will notice that our hiking schedule contains no conflicts with football) let's all pull for Montvale Springs for our annual banquet and election of officers, to be followed the next morning by that delightful little hike to Look Rock.
