3062 Burcham Dr., E. Lansing, Mich. Feb. 9, 1942 Dear Leonard, As usual, my ideas don’t develope [sic] until the last possible minute. Hope this catches you in Washington. It is primarily to remind you that next Saturday, the 14th, is Mama’s 80th birthday. It doesn’t seem possible but it’s so. Would you please see to it that she gets a note from you on that date. I shall write her but am also planning to call her up that evening. So happens that Jeanette will be here for the week- and (Sunday is V’s birthday) and we can do as we did on her

In this letter of February 9, 1942, Cornelia writes her brother Leonard Kephart (1892-1988) to let him know that their mother’s 80th birthday is coming up and he should make sure to write her. Cornelia is planning on calling her while her children Jeanette and Virginia are there visiting. She catches him up on the lives of her children and remembers that Leonard’s child Buddy’s birthday is the day after Virginia’s and she hopes he won’t get a call from the army.
