  • Public sale for 85 cts. I got it from him to get with the written family history. There is not the least doubt as to its authenticity. This Rifle is of the heavy hunting type about 11lb 44 inch barrel, a 45 Cal. Strictly original. Capt Mill Foulke took the breech out and found it in wonderful shape. He leaded it out, it has been shot perhaps 500 times by he and myself. Capt says she can’t be beaten at 100 yards. With anything, I got an 8 inch group at 200 with her. The Kauffmans said the Indian tragedy occurred in the 60ties and I feel certain they are a few years too early, I have reasons to think it occurred just before the Revolution. I have a duplicate of the same Rifle, but it has its 2nd Rifling both in splendid shape. Killdeer has its 2 bullet molds and sun shade. Some Relict the early rifles run for about 42 Cal to 50, the straight cuts use much larger, I have handled and carefully exam’ed during the past ten years not less than 600 old American Rifles and my History
