WCU did not fair nearly as well in the second match at Hilton Head as they were swept 7-0 against Evansville. The Cats came back on Wednesday and took out those frustrations on Savannah State, 5-0. The Cats won both matches in doubles action to get the doubles point as the teams of Hanson/ Trilla Jane and Stocks/Sjokvist dominated play with victories of 8-1 and 8-2. Hanson, Sjokvist, and Trilla Jane then dominated singles matches even more as all three won their matches in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Stocks was the first Catamount to allow a State player to score, but she still won in straight sets over Chantashia Bridges, 6-1, 6-2. Both teams had only four players so there were only 5 points at stake in the match. The dominating performance by the Catamount tennis team gives hope for future matches. The Cats may have tumed the comer with the two victories after struggling through much of the year.
