BJ Pendry, a senior from Wilkesboro majoring in political science and history, was swom into office on Feb 2 at the SGA general body meeting. Campbell was elected as Vice-President last spring and served all of last semester in that position. Campbell, who spearheaded the first-annual SGA Academic Banquet last year and worked to increase Senate accountability as Vice- President, will be greatly missed. However, there are great expectations for Pendry, who will certainly be a strong advocate for student issues on campus. Outside of SGA, Pendry is involved with other organizations including the Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Interfraternity Council, where he serves as President, At the time of Campbell's resignation, Pendry, a Senator, held the elected office of Senate Pro-Tempore The SGA Constitution calls for the person holding this. office to assume the role of Vice-President for the remainder of the term in the event of resignation or removal. College of Business scholarships C.S, Lewis novel, The Great Divorce, takes the reader on an in- teresting journey with the main character, the unnamed narrator, through Heaven and Hell. He finds himself in Hell, a dark, forebod- ing city, and standing in a long line at a bus stop. The only signs of life to be found are Hells grumbling citizens. Our narrator boards the bus and, much to his astonishment, finds out that the bus in tak- ing Hell's residents, along with himself, to Heaven. Once they arrive they are greeted by Heaven's residents who serve as guides to the hell-bound, The story is written from the main character's perspective, Itis lively in dialogue that is mostly between the heavenly guides and the hell- bound ghosts. The novel is thought provoking, if sHort, with its focus on the issues of good and evil, free will, and conceptions about the nature of Heaven and Hell itself. We gave the novel 31/2 stars out of 5. Despite its anti-climactic end- ing and some slower parts caused by the structure of the novel, the ideas in the book are worth taking a look at Review by: Jessie Clark, Duce Dailey, Thomas FredeiBth Poteat, and Shawn Winn, students in PAR 324, Spring 2006 .
