International Festival Day by Claudia Rotter On Friday, April 25, Western Carolina University's International Student Organization will sponsor its seventh International Festival. Western students from 21 countries, assisted by faculty members and other WCU students, will showcase their homelandsfrom 10a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Grandroom of AK. Hinds University Center on the WCU campus. The International Festival exhibits will be educational, containing geographic information about countries like China, Swaziland, India, the Federal Republic of Germany, Nepal, Africa, Great Britain, and Jamaica, to name only a few. Foreign specialties-Indian curry dishes, Jamaican coconut sweets, Sri Lankan love cakes, and German fruit pastry-may be available to sample in the Grandroom throughout the day. Host families from the area will sell baked goods the entire day. Lunchtime entertainment in the Grandroom will include Latin American and Jamaican folk songs. The International Festival is designed to promote international understanding and cultural exchange. It is open to the public.
