Hie movie will be shown on Oct. 17 at 8:00 p.m. Aging Workshops "Facts and Fiction About Aging" is the subject of a series of six evening workshops to be held at Western Carolina University Oct. 20 - Nov. 24. The purpose of the workshops, sponsored by WCU's Division of Continuing Education, is to help participants separate the facts from the fiction of aging, explore their own attitudes toward aging and gain a better understanding of the positive aspects of aging. Designed primarily for adults over 3ft the workshops will be held Mondays from 6 until 8 p.m. in Room 411 Belk Building under the leadership of Dr. Davia'Veach. associate professor of home economics at WCU. They will consist of presentations by workshop leaders, films, case studies, music, reading and informal group discussions. DPMA What is DPMA? DPMA stands for Data PROCESSING Management Association. It was initiated in 1968 to provide a means of encouraging college and universitv students who arc interested in the field of data processing. Il is designed for students who are planning careers in data processing. Through the progress. DI'MA seeks to provide additional opportunities for studenls to leam more aboul their chosen area ol study as well promote interaction between students aud professionals in data processing. Ihe Western Carolina Universitv student chapter of DPMA was formed in 1978. It is sponsored by DPMA National out ot Asheville. N.C. The DPMA National is made up of people who arc actively involved in data processing as a career. The National Chapter meets once a month for at least nine months out of the year for programs which are educational in nature. These monthly meeting may feature guest speakers with expertise in a particular area or presentations by. members of the local chapter. All new members and visitors are welcome to the club. DPMA will have it's next meeting Tuesday October 21, at 7:00 in Forsyth. Room 127. Siiie Ray will be our truest speaker. Gong Show Tonight The GONG SHOW, that's right folks - tonight at 8:00 p.m. for 50 cents you can see some of the weirdest dumbest, funniest, and best entertainment to hit WCU since Richard Pryor was at the Rit/. HI and Han-ill's RHC will present their first GONG SHOW in \i\ Auditorium in just a lew hours so get Gudger Reception I here will be a reception for U.S. Representative I amar Gudger starting at 4:30 ill the Grandroom of the University Center. Also, there will be a Dutch-Treat dinner with Mr. Gudger at 6:30 in the Top of the Stairs restaurant in the University Center. The reception is open to everyone. Pep Rally Homecoming festivities the week of the WCU- Marshall University football game (October 25) look to be some of the best ever at Western Carolina University. One of the highlights of the week will be the Homecoming Pep Rally to be held Thursday night (October 23). The pep rally will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Reid Gymnasium with the WCU cheerleaders leading the cheers. Also, three fall sports at Western (cross-country, men and women's tennis) will be recognized. Skits will be presented with prizes being awarded for Ihe best skits in three categories: fraternity and sorority, student organizations, and dormitory halls and floors.
