PAGE 10/THE WESTERN CAROLINIAN/JANUARY 12, 1978 Marc Pruett to teach guitar and banjo You can pick 'n Grin A special progam is being offered at Southeastern Technical Institute to teach beginners how to play the banjo and guitar this semester. The program called "Pick n' Grin" will offer students ten weeks of lessons for $45. with instrument rental available for one dollar a week during the ten week period. Other materials will be provided. The program will greatly benefit students who want to learn to play according to the program's head, Marc Pruett, who will teach banjo and guitar. The program will begin Monday at 6:15 p.m. in G-l of the Service Building on the STI campus. The program is a continuation of previous successful programs of this kind at STI, the last of which attracted over sixty students from around the county, including many from WCU. Ill IJEGRASS. SOUTHWESTERN TECH Winter classes in Bluegrass, Five String Banjo, and all styles of Guitar for beginners will start Monday, Jan. 16, in Room G-l of the Services Bldg. at Southwestern Technical Institure in Sylva at 6:15 p.m. Instructors will include Marc Pruett, Dale McCoy, and Jerry Young from the Pick 'n Grin Music Store in Asheville. The Western Carolinian is Western Carolina University’s student-run newspaper. The paper was published as the Cullowhee Yodel from 1924 to 1931 before changing its name to The Western Carolinian in 1933.
