The school record for most points scored in one season is 2,649 points by the 1953 squad. Henry Logan holds the school record for most points scored in one game, 45 against Welcome, Students — to — THE COLLEGE SHOP All Your College Needs ft School Supplies ft Sandwiches — Next to Joyner — The record for most field goals in one game is held by Mel Gibson, who scored 19 against Atlantic Christian in 1963. C.—Lenoir Rhyne got 23 point performances from Ed Miastkowski and Aubrey Cochron Wednesday night and defeated Western Carolina 83- 72 in a Carolinas Conference game. The Bear's workhorse Miast- kowksi was his usual deceptive self, faking the defense and sinking shots from all points, aided not a little by Bear's deadeye Aubrey Cochran. Western fans saw a nip and tuck battle the first half. The Cats, 2-1 In the conference and 7-5 overall after the loss traded basket for basket and five minutes into the second quarter trailed by a mere 2 points, 47-45. But the Cats ace guard Henry Logan, holding a season scoring average of 27.5, committed his fifth and last foul at about the midpoint of the second period and the Bears broke the game wide open. Foul-prone Logan finished the game with 18 points. Forward Charlie McConnell sank 7 field goals and was five for six from the foul line, finishing high man for the Cats with 19 points. J. B. Kiser aided the Cats cause by dropping in 18 points. The Bears played the Cat's running game, roving swiftly down-court, shooting again and again and sometimes again. The Bears, with their superior height, took 2 and 3 shots at a time. Rebounding for the Bears wasBurrell 1 2-3 George Deehan, 6'8", Aubrey Cochran, 6'5", and substitute Roger Kinsey, 6'8", and Mark LaMoraux, 6'8". The visiting Cat fans came in droves, but their hopes were in vain as they watched the Bears outrebound the Cats and sink 46 percent of their shots from the floor and a fine 85 percent of their charity tosses.
