  • THE CULLOWHEE YODEL Class Will The Universe United States State of North Carolina County of Jackson Cullowhee State Normal We, the Senior Class of the Cullowhee State Normal School, do hereby on this the ninth day of May, nineteen hundred and twenty seven, make our last will and testament. Item I.—To our Alma Mate:-, we most affectionately bequeath our loyalty and devoted service for all the prosperous and progressive programs for our school. Item II.—We will and bequeath to President Hunter our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for his many deeds of kindness to our class. Item III.—To Mr. Allen, our sponsor, we affectionately dedicate our love and devotion. We also leave him many thanks for his aid and guidance during the year. Item IV.—To Mrs. Posey, we leave a perfect group of girls, with a hope that rules and campus restrictions may be abolished from the face of the earth forever. To her we leave our sincere love for her watchful care and friendship to us. Item V.—To the faculty, who has 30 faithfully guided us through two years of hard work, though ever patient and kind we extend: 1. Our sincere thanks, our love and best wishes. 2. All the wonderful information and startling knowledge, that we, from time to time, have given them on our examination papers, with a request that they use it for the general enlightenment of mankind. There are further bequests that we leave for individual keeping. (a) To Mr. Bird, we leave a senior class that is more capable of appreciating his "Types of English Literature" than we are. (b) To Mr. Allen, we give the right to let all of his grades form a normal distribution curve. (c) To Miss Gladstone, we leave a thousand new volumes of those perfectly lovely and fascinating books. (d) To Mr. Stillwell, we leave a goodly store of reference books for his history courses. (e) To Miss Benton, we leave a sufficient number of black hose to give each of her "gym" students a pair. (f) To Miss Reams, we leave next year's Student Council to be successfully sponsored by her. (g) To Miss Feagans, we leave a companion to help her "Row, Row, Row, Her Boat Gently Down the Stream." (h) To Miss Ray and Miss Bradfield, we leave the Juniors, that they may guide them through the dark hours of practice teaching. (i) To Mr. Seymour, we leave all our daily schedules. (j) To Mr. Brown, we leave a wagon in which to deliver his milk. (k) To Miss Jones, we leave an art class that will not carry off all the supplies. (1) To Mr. Madison, we leave a box of the best cigars. (m) To Miss Franklin, we leave a Baby Grand Piano. Item VI.—To the class of '28 we bequeath: 1. All our senior privileges that we secured from the faculty in recognition of our attainment??? 2. To next year's practice teachers all our note books and lesson plans, provided they put across each lesson in as creditable We also leave them the ability to take the necessary criticism that is a part of this course. 3. We give them the right to call a senior meeting immediately after each meal. 4. In addition, we leave them the right hand corner of the reading room in which to discuss and quarrel over all senior questions. 5. We also leave the class of '28 the determination and "stickability' to finish all the courses of the curriculum, especially Tests and Measurements and English 122. Item VII—To various individuals we bequeath as follows. 1. To Maye Bowie and Victoria Grant, we leave Annie Thomas and Sudie Hunter's room so that they can watch the boys come over on Sunday afternoon. 2. To Shad Brooks, the serenity of Theresa Taylor. 3. To Josephine Lane and Dola McLamb, Edna Robinson's long dressey to be worn unchanged. 4. To Bill Calhoun, we leave all Maye Boone's catalogs, namely Sears- Roebuck, The National, Bellas Hess and The Hamilton. 5. To Ella Mitchiner and Pauline Martin, Vivian Jones and Ada Moss wish to leave their slender figures. 6. May Dowtin wishes to leave her lease on the dining hall steps to Ida Gray. We hope that she will be as successful as May. 7. To Madge Dillard, Frances McCotter leaves her diamond. 8. Josephine Safrit wills her stage career as an opera singer to Annie Brown. 9. To Carrie Lee Howell, Annie Thomas leaves her ability to play a "Uke." 10. Bonnie Teague wishes to dedicate her wit to Mr. Baker. 11. Margaret Batts desires to leave her corner of the reception room on Saturday night to Pearl Naylor. 12. To Alma Jackson, Lazelle Henson wills her much used senior privileges of going down town. 13. To Katherine Brown, we leave Elizabeth Moody's ability to whisper. 14. To Bernice Bridges, we want to will Elizabeth Deal's fondness for eating. 15. To Alta Clark, Sue Allison leaves her sunny disposition and smiles. 16. Frances Hinson wishes to give her Phychology notes to Alice Morgan in order that Alice can make an "A." 17. Sudie Hunter desires to will her "busy" signs to Elizabeth Sorrell. 18. Cora Mock wills her freckles to Mrs. Burley. 19. To Norine Anderson, Ocie Mae Dellinger wills all her beauty. 20. Roger Ferguson leaves his position as mail carrier to Lula Lee Phillips because he feels that no one else is capable. 21. Bertha Clayton wishes to leave her post office box to Alta Aman, with the hope that she will not have as much trouble with cobwebs and dust as Bertha had.
