C^jnt 2,1 )9d$% RESOLUTIONS * In connection with a letter from Dr. •» P, Ambler, Secretary and Treasurer, Appalachian National Park Association, asking the American lark & Outdoor Art Asso cist ion to endorse their action for the establishment of a Southern National Park somewhere in the Southern Appalachian Mountain, the following resolution was carried. RESOLVED: That this Association e&orses all well- considered movements for the acquirement by tie nati&n or state of mountain or forest reservations that will ie for the use and benefit of the people.

Various organizations expressed support of an Appalachian National Park and a bill before Congress authorizing the purchase of four million acres for that purpose. A movement for a national park in the Appalachians was spearheaded by Appalachian National Park Association, formed in 1899. The association raised public awareness of the issue, but disbanded before the formation of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
