  • C. D. L.—2. such a Forest "Reasrve was a nee essity, we simply requested Congress to investigate the whole Southern Appalachian section. This investigation was aad« last summer, the whole country from Virginia to South Carolina, being thoroughly gone over, as you '.nil see by the Secretary of Agriculture*1 report. K» the matter now stands, the Committee on Agriculture and F orestry have reported Senator Pritchards bill favorably to the Senate, This bill asks for an appropriation of five million dollars for the establishment of a Southern Appalachian 79'rtst Reserve, • Those who have the matter in charge in Washington feel that our Park matter is now in the best possible shape, ,3Te have the leaders of all politicals parties with us and might possibly do something at the present session of congress, but our friends there believe that to pursue to aggressive a course at this time would only be to antagonise certain well-known and influencial members who are now heartily with us. The mutter is assuming such shape that it is only a question of time and we feel assured it will succeed, Very truly yours, Sec-Treas,, A, H.t P. Association, F.N.H.
