Jan. 24, 1946 Dear Leonard The enclosed was in last nights Journal. It may interest you even if you won’t feel the urge to put on crepe. Barbara Ann’s announcement card arrived at about the time I had begun to give up hope of any news. I owe Jane a letter & will answer ? — The way my un-answered pile has grown, is sad to contemplate. Manton & Susie were here for dinner Sun. Manton came to show off his new car & Susie just came along. She said it was not possible to rouse Roger sufficiently for him to come. Dorothy is coming to Rochester to live. Marnie says Sam Bird is coming back to finish college — he has two terms to go. This means he will have one

In this letter of January 24, 1946, Laura Kephart writes her son Leonard Kephart to let him know she received Barbara Ann’s announcement card and to give him other news of the family. Sam Bird is going to come back and finish his two terms of college, Roy Ferris will be going overseas to Germany, and then will go onto Cornell. She tells him that the last of the cows on the farm next door are soon to be sold and she will move to her country home as soon as weather permits.
