  • Money as fast as I Nashville December the 7th 1863 can get a chance Nashville December to send it. Martha Nashville December I have rote (sic) so often that I am allmost (sic) at a loss to know what to rite (sic), rite (sic) to me every chance you get and tell me what you want to know and I will try to tel (sic) you Oh Martha if I only knew that you and the children had plenty to eat and wear I could be tolerable well sadisfied (sic) But I fear you have bin (sic) robed (sic) of what you had and you are now starving & some times think I hear my children crying for bread and that there is none to give But I still pray God to provide some way where by you and the children may be fed and clothed Martha try to trust in God for he is the olnly (sic, only) one that can feed and protect you now Martha I have had the very best of health for the last two Month I have not bin (sic) wet since I come into the service neigther (sic) do I intend to I have a good over coat I have a pair of gum leggings and gum blanket I can ride all day and night and not eaven (sic) get damp we scout nearly ever day But we hardly ever ride more than twenty miles a day So no more at present I remain your True and loveing husband.
