There was, however but little business to come before the Association yestere?.ay, Wt propose to take up an active c*smpai|pt this fall and try to push, it to a finish this winter. If you can continue to secure new members, it will be a great accommodation to the Association as we are at this time about one hundred dollars in debt mid must raise funds for the purpose of getting out printed matter for the fall campaign. This correspondence discusses the upcoming annual meeting of the Appalachian National Park Association in September 1901. The association was formed in 1899 for the purpose of promoting the idea of a national park in the eastern U.S. Although housed in Asheville, North Carolina, the organization was a multi-state effort, attracting representatives from six southern states. One of the highlights of the group’s activities was a convention held in 1902 to which 1,500 people attended. The association lobbied Congress for the creation of a park, but with limited success. The association disbanded in 1905.
