  • Johnson to show fraudulent transaction in regards to land and other transactions in refference to the Cherokees. He said no doubt existed in his mind but that Thomas and Johnson had manipulated together [illegible] I am not well enough to write, but I think Johnson unless matters takes a different direction will at last have much trouble a [illegible]. The Sec. seemed very anxious to elicit myself in his favor or in favor of his views, but I said nothing more than promise to see him and confer with him from times to time in regard to these matters. He thinks it my duty especially to take an interest as the Indians are in my district, I should like to [illegible] you and have a talk with your [illegible]
