The winner ofthe tournament will get an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. _ The regular season comes into play with the conference tourna- : ment because no team has ever won witha first round bye. The two other first round byes in the past went to the second place of the North and the South, but this year the last two byes go to the third and fourth best overall record in the conference, regardless of whether they are in the North or the South divisions. As of Valentines Day, the North division leader is Elon Univer- sity and the South divi- sion leader is Davidson. Looking at the remain- ing schedule, the Col- lege of Charleston and WCU look to have good chances to lock up a__ first round bye.
