The nationally ranked Mountaineers were expected to be the top team in the Southern Conference. Loses to Wofford and Georgia Southern have left the Mountaineers in the middle of the Southern Conference Quarterback Burchette is averaging over 215 yards per game this seaso•n and has been named So-Con Player of the week twice, but the Mountaineers are averaging fewer points per game than their opponents. Western did not play last week and is expected to be fully rested for what most fans consider the most important football game of the season. WCU Junior Flip Drummond says he has been looking forward to the game all year. "l usually do not have time to go to all of the games, but you can't miss the App game. It is what WCU football is all about." The annual Battle for the Old Mountain Jug will mark the 66th meeting between the two teams. Western last beat the Mountaineers in 1998, their only victory in the past 14 years. Game time is set for 3:30 P.
