It is motion picture audio recording equipment being used by Al Nelson (left), assistant sound designer with George Lucas's Skywalker Sound Division, to capture the whirs and hums of some of the high-tech equipment housed in robotics laboratories in Western Carolina University's department of engineering technology. Nelson, who lives in the Asheville area, recently traveled to several spots in Western North Carolina collecting sounds for the Lucas film library.
