September 13, 2000 SPORTS INTRAMURAL SPORTS HANDBOOKS-CALENDARS may be picked up in the Intramural Office 130 in Reid Gym. These include a description of individual, team, and coed activities, plus a time schedule for women and men sports. Also included is the weekend IM activities. There is no cost to participate in the WCU Intramural Program. SPORT CLUBS: Western Carolina University currently has two active Club Sports; rugby and karate. Membership in all clubs is open to anyone regardless of skill level. If you are interested in joining either of these teams or starting a new club, please call or stop by the Intramural Office Reid 130. WATER POLO OFFICIALS: The Intramural Department is seeking potential water polo officials for fall and spring semesters. Pay is $6.00 per hour. TEAM ULTIMATE FRISBEE MEETING tor IM employees and unit managers will take place on Wednesday, September 13 at 4:00 pm in Reid 132. TEAM SIGN-UPS FOR OUTDOOR SOCCER TOURNAMENT for men and women will end Thursday, September 14. The tournament will occur Friday evening, September 15 and Saturday, September 16. WCU T-shirts, caps, or shorts will be awarded to All-Campus Champion participants. WOMEN'S TENNIS DOUBLES TOURNAMENT will occur Thursday, September 14 at 4:00 pm on the Reid Gym Upper Tennis Courts. SIGN-UPS FOR FLAG FOOTBALL (M), FLOOPBALL (W) AND WATER POLO (M&W) begin on Monday, September 18 and end on Monday, September 25 in office 130 Reid Gym. MEN'S, WOMEN'S, SORORITY, AND COED 2-MILE CROSS COUNTRY will occur Tuesday, September 19 at 4:00 pm on the WCU Track. The various categories will be men's, sorority and women's independent for best individual participant and best three member teams. Also, the best coed runners will be acknowledged. T-shirts are awarded to all winners. WOMEN'S BADMINTON SINGLES for Sororities and Independents will occur on Wednesday, September 20 at 6:30 pm on Reid Gym main floor. Come prepared to participate. MEN'S & WOMEN'S FRISBEE GOLF will occur on Thursday, September 21 at 4:00 pm. Meet on the Camp Lab Intramural Fields. A nine-hole Frisbee golf course will be set up for the tournament. The Western Carolinian is Western Carolina University's student-run newspaper. The paper was published as the Cullowhee Yodel from 1924 to 1931 before changing its name to The Western Carolinian in 1933.
