July 2 Admission $1.50 Jackson Offers Fine Fishing The Jackson County area offers some of the finest trout fishing in the state. The novice fisherman may wish to try his luck in the Tuckaseigee River. This river is periodically stocked with delicious pan size trout and allows even the inexperienced sportsman a chance to catch trout. The Tuckaseigee River.also produces fine native and natural trout. The trout fisherman may also choose to venture into some of the streams local to the Jackson County area. Both Cullowhee Creek and Tilley Creek produce an array of native and natural trout. Trout as large as Conrad Frady's twenty-four inch rainbow have been taken from these small streams in recent years. Green's Creek, Scott's Creek, and Caney Fork Creek are also streams that the more experienced fisherman will find both challenging and rewarding. All of the streams mentioned with the exception of the upper portion of Caney Fork are either classified as general trout waters or are unclassified. This allows any person with either a state or local fishing license and a trout stamp to take trout by means of hook and line. The trout in these waters seem to prefer spinning lures, corn and nightcrawlers. Update On Carr WCU basketball standout Ronnie Carr was transferred to the coronary care unit of North Carolina Memorial Hospital Saturday where he was listed in "serious" condition. The senior from Orangebury, S.C. was admitted to the hospital June 19 following a collision with a Chapel H ill police car. Having already had surgery for multiple injuries suffered in the accident, Carr is now reportedly undergoing tests to see if the collision caused any heart damage. Carr's many accomplishments at WCU include two selections to the All-Southern Conference team and one to the All-Freshman team. The 21 year old. 6'3" guard led the Southern Conference in scoring last season. Famous for his outside shooting, Carr would have benefitted from the new conference rule making the three point basket shorter. The former high school All-American led Western to a 19-8 record and a second place finish in 1982. One of three returning starters, Carr was expected to fill the void created by the graduation of Greg Dennis and Kevin Young. For A Truly European Experience Come & Dine With Us Open Mon. - Sat.
