"Towards Zero," a murder mystery in the classic Christie tradition, tells the story of a group gathered for a weekend at an English country house. Each member of the group feels that something strange is about to take place, and that something strange is murder. The question of who will be the victim is as much a part of the story's su- pense as who is the killer, and it seems impossible for any of the supects to have committed the murder. Admission for the WCU performance of "Towards Zero" is $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and WCU em- WCU students. Tickets are available at the Ramsey Center ticket office from 1 until S p.m. Monday through Friday; telephone (704) 227-7722. Asolo State Theater has been performing "Towards Zero" across the South, Northeast and Midwest since January and will stage the play at 32 locations during the eight-week tour. The performance at WCU is produced by the Asolo performing Arts Center and is part of Western Carolina's Lectures, Concerts and Exhibitions Series. The program is made possible in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts through the Southeastern Arts Federation. Anita Baker has another song heading up the charts called "Just Because". This song is a strong followup for Anita's last hit "Giving You The Best That I've Got". The song compliments Anita's singing to a tee. Look out for this song. In the reggae area, a new album has been released by Asher D and Daddy Freddy. You may have heard their last hit "Ragamuffin Hip Hop", which scored on numerous charts throughout the country. Now with their album out, you may want to look out for one of their tracks named "Posse Rock And Move". This track is produced, mixed and engineered by Simon Harris, known for his popular track "Bass, How Low Can You Go?" If you listen carefully you can hear the imitated theme from the movie Halloween in the background. The whole album is interesting to listen to, though I doubt you can understand the words that they are saying. Still, it is a good album that is sure to hit the charts. Asher D and Daddy Freddy are given credit to being the only rap artists to add reggae to rap music successfully that includes Milli Vinilli and MC Shinehead. We leave that decision up to you. Simon Harris also has another master mix out now called "Here Comes That Sound". The track resembles that of his last jam, and, in fact has some of that public enemy sound that made his last jam so popular. Look out for that one. A major rap record is in the stores now not made by one rap artist or group but a number of them. The title of the track is called, "Self Destruction," and is geared to rap fans in an attempt to cease the senseless violence created by drugs and gang wars. There are anumberof well known artists on the Hst including KRS-one, Public Enemy, MC Lyte, Kool Moe Dee and Stereosonic. This is definitely a must for the rap fan. The popular group Guy is also making a strong representation in the charts. You may well remember their first hit "Groove Me" which launched their career and success. Other songs became popular such as "Teddy's Jam" and "Spend The Night". Still the erouo has more jams to send to the public. One song doing well on the charts is "Round And Round" as well as two mellow songs, "I Like" and "Piece Of My Love". There seems to be no end for this group. One of the stars of the three man group is producer Teddy Riley. Teddy has gained much respect through his producing. He has produced songs for such artists like Bobby Brown, Heavy And The Boyz, Al. B. Sure!, and Today. He is in the midst of producing songs for the Jacksons, so you may want to look out for that. One other group you may want to watch out for is the Todd Terry Project. This group specializes in dance music. You may have heard one of their popular tracks, "Just Wanna Dance", but from their album there are nine tracks of dance music, including "Bango" and "Weekend". These are just some of the songs played in the clubs, radio stations and homes throughout the country. Check it out while it's hot.
