Frats at UNC-G GREENSBORO, N.C.-(I.P.)-The University of North Carolina-Greensboro Board of Trustees recently endorsed a recommendation to establish fraternities and sororities for the first time in University history. According to a report submitted by Vice-Chancellor of Student Affairs James H. Allen, the acceptance comes after a survey revealed that over 30 percent of UNC-G's students would support such organizations including 51 percent of UNC-G's black students, a figure which suggests that there may be a special need among the Black enrollment for a tangible means of identifying with and relating to the University. "UNC-G has a 'legal and moral' responsibility to ensure that the organizations do not exclude students from membership on the basis of race." Chancellor Moran is quoted as saying. He also said that it is probable that sororities and fraternities will become racially distinguishable. "The fact that it is likely does not mean that is is desirable," he added. ISO display The International Students Organization would like to announce to the students and faculty that beginning Sunday, March 30th. a new display will go up in Hunter Library. This display will feature diverse aspects of foreign cultures as presented by international students themselves. The ISO extends a warm invitation for all to come and learn something new about the world. .. 4*.
