Ihe event will culminate with the final performance of "The Roval Family," a WCU Little rheater offering that has been designated the first annual Josefina Niggli Theater Production, A Dutch treat luncheon with Miss Niggli is scheduled for noon March 18 in the Mary Will Mitchell Room of Brown Cafeteria. The luncheon will be followed at 2 p.m. bv a visiting scholars program on the place of theater in contemporary education. Ihe annual production will honor Miss Niggli in recognition of her distinguished career as playwright and teacher and her singular contributions to WCU and Us theater program. The gala performance of "The Royal Family" will begin at 7:30p.m. Saturday in the Little Theater. "The Roval Family." a rollicking and biting satire on the -lust family" of the American theater, the Barrymore clan, quickly became a classic after its opining in 1927. Written by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber, the plav was revived successfully on Broadway last season. Broadway critic Alexander Woolleott called il "one of the happiest evenings ever 1 spent in the theater." The WCU production will be directed by Micheal L. Genebach, wiih the assistance of B. Anne Stump. The cast will include Peggy McNeil Dawson, Leonora forrister, Tim Dickenson, Sheila Turner, Ralph Hamlet. Armando Erba, Diana Marshall, Tonya Lamm, and Steve Way. Also. Keith Brooks, Ken Stikeleather, Carl Gifford Greg Lytle, Michelle Parkin, Randall Longshire, and David Nutt. Set design is by Beth Thomas, costumes by Glenda Hensley, lighting by Mike Genebach and Steve Fryar, makeup by Diana Marshall, and sound by B. Anne Stump and Robert Brown. The play will open Monday, March 13, and will be performed nightly through March 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Little Theater. Ticket prices are $2 for adults, $1 for students and SO cents for children.
