  • THE WESTERN CAROLINIAN TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 1977 Carolinian Newsbriefs Events happening around Cullowhee and WCU Exhibit to open Jewelry, prints, weaving, glass, pottery and painting by four Western Carolina University students will be featured in an exhibition opening Friday at the Chelsea Gallery in the University Center. The students—Judy Collier, Joani DiGiovanni, Claudia Leah Kleinhans and Karen Stinnett—will be honored at a reception March 1 from 3 until 4 p.m. in the gallery. The reception is open to the public. Ms. Collier is completing the requirements for graduation this quarter. A transfer student from Georgia Southern College, she has been an art major at WCU for two years. She specializes in weaving and glassblowing. A transfer student from the University of Delaware. Ms. DiGiovanni also will graduate this spring with a bachelor of fine arts degree, with a concentration in jewelry. Ms. Kleinhans transferred to WCU from Stetson University, where she was a language major. She will be graduating from WCU this summer with a B.F.A. degree in art and a concentration in jewelry and pottery. Ms. Stinnett will finish her studies this quarter, earning a B.F.A. degree in art with concentrations on painting and printmaking. The exhibit, which is free to public, will remain on display through March 11. Seminar planned SGA's Office of Legal Assistance will sponsor a seminar, "Drinking While Driving," at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24 in the Grandroom of the UC. Sgt Bill Styles of the N.C. State Highway Patrol, members of the Haywood County Sheriff's Dept. and Marcellus Buchanan, District Attorney of the Court of Justice will participate in the program. The seminar will attempt to inform students of the hazards while driving under the influence and the possible legal consequences. In an attempt to realistically portray the circumstances, two students will be served alcoholic drinks until intoxicated.
