Page 5 Gamma Epsilon .chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, at Western Carolina was named the best Pi Kappa Phi chapter in the nation at their 32th Annual Supreme Chapter Meeting at Virginia Beach, Va. The award, known as the "Champion Master Chapter Award" signifies excellence in both campus and national office relations. Seventy-nine chapters were seeking this honor. Gamma Epsilon Chapter Is the youngest chapter in the history of the fraternity to receive this award. The award consists of a large gold and white banner and a certificate. Charles Sutton, president of the local chapter, received the award when it was presented at Virginia Beach, Sutton says that although the award marks a high point in the chapter's history, "There is much more to come," "One of the factors which aided us In winning the award was our chapter publication, THE GAMMA EPIC. The publication placed third in national competition. It might also be noted that we are the only fraternity on campus which has a published fratenity newspaper." PANDEMONIUM No doubt Webster shopped regularly at Ye Olde Varsity Shoppe before going to press with his definition of "Pandemonium." "A wild uproar," as he states, is quite suitable as a description of this scene where students are wildly rushing to the •VJS. for those traditional bargains in fashionable clothing. Here we find several WCU co-eds selecting their favorites from the famous brand name lines in stock. Pam Barnes, a junior from Greensboro, displays her approval of the shopping "uproar." And joining her is Becky Ledford, a senior from HayesvHle, who proudly admires her choice from the V.S. fashion table. So hurry on down to the Varsity Shop, where you'll find ladies' wool dresses at an unbelievable 50% discount. ®lj* Harstty &ti0f> 1 radittonal Clothing for The Gentleman * Hia Lady Pi Kappa Alpha Pictured above is the Pi Kappa Alpha pledge class for fall quarter, 1968, From left to right they are: Mike Carver, Rod Metcalf, and Mitch Hull.
